Message from the ITU Arab Regional Director

Adel Mohamed Darwish - Director, ITU Regional Office for the Arab States

Early Warnings for All (EW4All) is a global commitment to ensure that every person, everywhere, is protected from the growing risks of disasters and climate‑related hazards through timely, reliable, and actionable early warnings. In the Arab region—where climate change, conflict, rapid urbanization, and exposure to multi‑hazard risks increasingly intersect—the effective dissemination of warnings is not optional; it is a life‑saving obligation. As the United Nations specialized agency for information and communication technologies, ITU is proud to host and lead Pillar 3 of EW4All, supporting countries in strengthening governance frameworks, resilient digital infrastructure, inclusive communication channels, and trusted warning mechanisms that reach all communities, including the most vulnerable. Through strengthened partnerships, regional cooperation, and capacity development, EW4All in the Arab region aims to translate global commitments into national action, ensuring that no one is left behind when warnings matter most.
