The ITU-UNESCO High Level Meeting on “Ensuring equity and inclusivity in all that we do: data, platforms and policies" is organized in the format of a webinar, will be held virtually on 29 November 2021 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Cairo Time (GMT+2). Simultaneous interpretation will be provided in Arabic, English and French; Arabic Sign Language and English captioning will also be available.
The Webinar will mark the opening event of the annual ITU-UNESCO Regional Digital Inclusion Week for Arab States. The Meeting will examine the role of data, platforms, and policies in the context of fostering challenges and opportunities for equity and inclusion. A portfolio of practices, research and resources that can inform efforts to advance equity and inclusion and ensure the wellbeing of all persons; especially marginalized and disadvantaged groups; will be presented and discussed. The webinar will draw on recent research, learnings and experiences from across the Arab region and beyond.
The Meeting is participatory and targets stakeholders seeking to advance digital inclusion and equity. The Meeting will be attended by policy makers from the public and private sectors, UN and intergovernmental bodies, civil society, academia, and Organizations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs), citizens, youths, migrants amongst others from across the Arab region. The Meeting will provide a forum to raise awareness, strengthen collaboration amongst stakeholders and advance efforts to combat digital divides and all forms of exclusion and inequity.
