The International Telecommunication Union (ITU), United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and United Nations University (UNU), will be organizing Online Workshop on WEEE: Towards regional harmonization of national WEEE policies, regulations and standards in the Arab States which will be held online on 02-03 Dec. 2020, from 14:00 to 17:00 PM (Cairo Time). The online workshop will be conducted in Arabic, English and French with simultaneous interpretation.
The overall objective of this online workshop is to harmonize and synergize the ITU, UNEP and UNU activities on environmental sounds management of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE), through a harmonized approach to regional WEEE policy and regulation development in Arab region. In addition, the workshop will highlight the key WEEE definitions and concepts, and data collection and improvement, WEEE policy, legislation, and regulation as well as explain the underlying concepts and the role that a wide range of stakeholders could play in developing WEEE management systems and the policy landscape.
The event targets specialists in the field of ICTs ministries and regulators, national statistics offices, ministries of environments, mobile network operators and other UN agencies, government agencies dealing with e-waste data (municipalities, ministries, and customs).
