Regional Training workshop on ICTs for Disasters Management, Khartoum - Sudan, 28-29 August 2017

​The Arab Regional Office of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and GSMA are jointly organizing a training workshop on ICTs for Disaster Management for Arab States, kindly hosted by the National Telecommunications Corporation (NTC) of Sudan, in Khartoum, during 28-29 August 2017.

The purpose of this training workshop is to raise awareness on the importance of the ICT role in disaster management and broaden knowledge on the humanitarian context of emergency response and the inter-agency response mechanisms and also bring together stakeholders that are involved in disaster management from Arab region.

The training workshop is targeted at relevant government entities such as the ICTs providers, National Regulatory Authorities (NRAs), ICTs and social ministers, National Disaster Management Authorities (NDMA) and their partners, in particular:

  • Those responsible for coordinating the delivery of ICT services during emergencies;
  • Those responsible for regulating ICT services or who have an impact on ICT functions;
  • Policymakers at the national and local government level who are responsible for ICT policymaking;
  • Managers in the public sector seeking to employ ICT tools for disaster management.
