ABOUT

The ITU Policy and Economic Colloquium 2022 was organized in Mexico City, from 22 to 26 August 2022. This Colloquium was organized by the ITU Telecommunication Development Bureau (BDT) in close collaboration with the Federal Telecommunications Institute (IFT) of Mexico. This year, the ITU AMERICAS IPEC 2022 will include the Digital Regulation Training Course for the Americas Region (22 to 24 August 2022) and the Regional Economic Dialogue (RED-AMS) (25 to 26 August 2022).​

PURPOSE

The ITU AMERICAS IPEC 2022 Regional Economic Dialogue focused, among other interesting subjects, on policy, economic and financial approaches for the digital transformation to achieve the SDGs; regulatory and economic incentives to foster affordable digital services by promoting investment for meaningful connectivity; policies and regulation best practices for future critical digital technologies. 
The Digital Regulation Training Course dealed on emerging challenges associated with digital transformation while protecting users and creating competitive environments for the private sector to thrive, this by better understanding collaborative approaches to regulation, and gaining insights on the latest developments and global trends. 


WHO ATTENDED

Telecommunication/ICT​ National Regulatory Authorities (NRA) of ITU Member States; ITU-D Sector Members, Associates and Academia; Regional Regulatory Associations in the Americas region; International Organizations and ICT stakeholders, 
and other relevant regulatory agencies, ICT policymakers and staff from sector members dealing with regulatory and economic matters.
