Dates: 9-12 April, 2018: 8th Green Standards Week- Linking Circular Economy and Industry 4.0; Zanzibar Tanzania hosted by the Universal Communications Service Access Fund (UCSAF), Tanzania. 

Objective: Provide a global platform for discussion and knowledge-sharing to raise awareness on the importance of and opportunities for using information and communication technologies (ICTs) to protect the environment, unlock the potential of circular economy and expedite the transition to smart sustainable cities; Activities included; Events included the; · 12th ITU Symposium on ICT, Environment and Climate Change · Forum & Training on With ICTs everywhere - How safe is EMF · Forum on Artificial Intelligence and Internet of Things in the development of Smart Sustainable Cities · Training on e-Waste Statistics · Meetings of ITU-T Study Group 5 Regional Group for Africa and Arab regions · Meeting of ITU-T Study Group 20 Regional Group for Africa. ​

Number of Participants: 150 participants from 30 Countries. 

Results/Impact: Increased knowledge on the opportunities of information and communication technologies (ICTs) to protect the environment, unlock the potential of circular economy and expedite the transition to smart sustainable cities in Africa. Members also considered the study items and constituted the management teams for the SG-AFR 5 &20 for the period 2018-2020.​
