The national launch of the Collaborative Regulation Report entitled "Accelerating Nigeria’s Digital Transformation​" sharedfindings from a comprehensive study conducted by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in partnership with the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC). This study leverages the ITU ICT Regulatory Tracker and the ITU G5 Benchmark tools to analyse Nigeria's transition from a 4th to 5th generation regulatory environment, aiming to facilitate Nigeria’s readiness for advanced digital transformation.

Objective and Expected Outcomes


​Objective

The objective of this event was to officially launch the Collaborative Regulation Report, offering an opportunity to explore its key insights. The launch aimed to spur discussions that emphasize how these insights can expedite Nigeria's advancement toward a 5th Generation regulatory framework—a critical element for enhancing digital transformation and stimulating economic growth. With a focus on 'Driving Nigeria’s Digital Transformation through Collaborative Regulation: A Pathway to 5th Generation Regulation,' this event provided a platform to align stakeholders on the importance of collaborative regulation in advancing Nigeria’s digital landscape

Expected Outcomes
The event aimed to enhance awareness and understanding of collaborative regulation’s role in digital transformation, promote a shared understanding of the study's implications, identify collaboration opportunities and further research areas, and develop strategic steps for implementing the recommendations to advance Nigeria’s regulatory framework and digital economy.

Participation


The launch convened stakeholders including government officials from the Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, the Ministry of Science and Technology, and other relevant Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), as well as industry representatives from mobile network operators, Internet service providers, telecommunication infrastructure companies, satellite broadband providers, and academia.
