Mr. Leonard Mabele

Leonard Mabele is a Research Fellow at Strathmore University. He is also the current Manager of the Internet of Things (IoT) Research Group at the iLabAfrica Research Centre of Strathmore University. He holds a B.Eng. degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering and a MSc. in Telecommunications and Innovations. He is currently pursuing his PhD in Computer Science within the umbrella of Dynamic Spectrum Sharing with a focus of Cognitive Radios and Automated Frequency Coordination Systems. Under his research studies, Leonard has led the collaboration between Strathmore University (SU) and the Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) to inspire contextual country investigation on Radio Frequency Spectrum Innovation and Policy. In 2019/2020, he led the grant funding from the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) to both CA and SU together with Dennis Sonoiya from CA to validate the draft regulatory framework for TV White Spaces which saw Kenya publish its regulatory framework. He has also led the grant from the Dynamic Spectrum Alliance to conduct a gap analysis study on spectrum sharing in Kenya and carry out technical studies on coexistence in the 6 GHz band. Presently, he is the lead Co-Investigator on an ITU-funded Research Competition under the concept Connect2Recover. His oversees engagements has involved presentations on TVWS studies at the University of Strathclyde, Scotland, UK and his early PhD research exchange at Brno University in Czech Republic.​
