Background
This webinar is organized in the context of the
International Telecommunication Union (ITU)-Government of Colombia project,
International Exchange Initiative on Regulating E-waste and Engaging Tech Producers. This project provides a platform for best practices and lesson-sharing for participating ITU Member States to grow their knowledge and to increase their experience in developing and implementing e-waste regulations. The project revolves around three study tours, bringing together representatives from six participating countries and subject matter experts. A series of public post-study tour webinars consolidates the insights gained and allows other ITU Member States and experts to join the conversation on best practices for e-waste management.
This webinar is the first of the series and will highlight insights from the Colombia study tour on 06-10 October 2025, focusing on international collaboration and best practices in e-waste management.
Objectives
This webinar has the following specific objectives:
- provide participants with firsthand insights and lessons learned from the Colombia study tour, including successful strategies, challenges faced and innovative approaches to e-waste management observed during the visit;
- encourage dialogue among global stakeholders to share experiences, policies and technologies that can support sustainable e-waste management practices worldwide;
- support participants in strengthening their national and regional capacities by showcasing practical tools, policy frameworks and implementation models that can be adapted to local contexts for effective e-waste regulation and system development.
