Central African Workshop on the Use of Telecommunications/ICT for Disaster Management
São Tomé & Principe, (21-25 September, 2009)

This training workshop is the third in a series for the Central African region. The first one was held in 2007 in Yaounde, Cameroon. That event adopted a Plan of Action which came under extensive review and implementation assessment in 2008 in Kigali, Rwanda. The workshop is being held  against the backdrop of a number of deadly disasters recently experienced in different regions of the world to include floods, earthquakes and cyclones.

The purpose of this event is to bring together stakeholders that are involved in disaster management from each of the countries in the Central African region. For the first time participants will receive hands-on training on the deployment and use of satellite terminals for disaster response/relief.
