MULTI-STAKEOLDER FORUM ON THE ROLE OF TELECOMMUNICATIONS/ ICT IN DISASTER MANAGEMENT AND CLIMATE CHANGE

 

The World Telecommunications Development Conference which was held in Hyderabad, India in 2010 (WTDC-2010), identified natural disasters as a major threat to socio-economic development and adopted emergency telecommunications as one of the regional initiatives for almost all the regions including the Americas. In that regard, the International Telecommunication Union, CDEMA, the UNDP together with host country Barbados, are jointly organizing an event, “Multi-stakeholder Forum on the Role of Telecommunications/ICT in Disaster Management and Climate Change”, to be held in Bridgetown, Barbados from 18-20 September 2013.
