Codificación de señales vocales a 16 kbit/s utilizando predicción lineal con excitación por código de bajo retardo
La Recomendación UIT-T G.728 contiene la descripción de un algoritmo para la codificación de señales vocales a 16 kbit/s utilizando predicción lineal con excitación por código de bajo retardo (LD-CELP). La descripción principal, que comprende la aplicación de punto flotante de LD-CELP, se encuentra en el cuerpo principal de la Recomendación. En los Anexos A, B, C y D se presentan en cuadros las constantes utilizadas por el algoritmo LD-CELP. En el Anexo E se presenta la secuencia de adaptación de variables y su utilización, mientras que el Anexo F contiene una lista de las abreviaturas utilizadas en esta Recomendación.
El Anexo G contiene la especificación de punto fijo de16 kbit/s (16-bit) alternativa de UIT-T G.728. El objetivo de este Anexo es describir con suficiente precisión cómo puede aplicarse en un dispositivo aritmético de punto fijo UIT-T G.728 a 16 kbit/s. Una aplicación de punto fijo basada en esta descripción debería ser capaz de interfuncionar plenamente con una versión de UIT-T G.728 de punto flotante y producir una señal de salida de calidad equivalente, sea una señal de voz o de datos en banda.
LD-CELP de UIT-T G.728 puede funcionar a tres velocidades binarias distintas de 16 kbit/s, como se define en los Anexos H y J. Estos modos de funcionamiento adicionales son especialmente útiles para aplicaciones como los equipos de multiplicación de circuitos digitales (DCME).
En el Anexo H se presentan las modificaciones del algoritmo de codificación de voz LD-CELP UIT-T G.728 necesarias para reducir la velocidad de codificación a 12,8 y 9,6 kbit/s. Estas modificaciones comprenden las de las tablas de códigos de forma y ganancia. El funcionamiento a velocidades inferiores puede ayudar al DCME a tramitar un mayor tráfico de voz con una degradación de la calidad imperceptible.
El Anexo I trata de cómo ocultar la pérdida de información del tren de bits por borrado de tramas o pérdida de paquetes en el canal de comunicaciones. Durante el funcionamiento normal, el descodificador funciona como se indica en el cuerpo principal de UIT-T G.728 o su Anexo G, cuando funciona a 16 kbit/s, o con su Anexo H, cuando funciona a 12,8 ó 9,6 kbit/s. La modificación descrita en el Anexo I sólo implica el cambio de descodificador cuando el tren de bits no está disponible. Se supone que esta pérdida del tren de bits se indica al descodificador por medios externos. El Anexo I no es fundamental para el funcionamiento normal de UIT-T G.728.
En el Anexo J se define una extensión a 40 kbit/s, optimizada para los datos en banda vocal (DBV). El retardo del algoritmo es de cinco muestras (0,625 ms), idéntico al de los demás modos de funcionamiento de LD-CELP descritos en esta Recomendación. El algoritmo DBV a 40 kbit/s del Anexo J está previsto para la transmisión de compresión de la señal DBV en aplicaciones como DCME. El algoritmo permite una transición paulatina desde y hacia otros modos de funcionamiento de LD-CELP UIT-T G.728, y también está diseñado para mantener una alta calidad vocal. En Anexo J es una alternativa eficaz al modo ADPCM a 40 kbit/s (UIT-T G.726) en los sistemas DCME que incorporan LD-CELP (UIT-T G.728).
El Apéndice I contiene información sobre los procedimientos de verificación de aplicación de LD-CELP a 16 kbit/s (punto fijo y punto flotante). En este Apéndice se describen las secuencias de prueba digital y el software de medición que se han de utilizar para la verificación de aplicación de UIT-T G.728. Están comprendidas las aplicaciones de punto flotante, de acuerdo con el cuerpo principal de UIT-T G.728, y las aplicaciones de punto fijo con exactitud de bits, conforme con el Anexo G.
En el Apéndice II se esboza a grandes líneas el funcionamiento vocal del algoritmo LD-CELP a 16 kbit/s cuando interactúa con otras partes de la red. También se da información general sobre las señales tipo vocal y no vocales. El funcionamiento de UIT-T G.728 se compara con el del modo de funcionamiento a 32 kbit/s de UIT-T G.726 ADPCM y el de UIT-T G.711 (64 kbit/s PCM).
En el Apéndice III se facilita información sobre el funcionamiento del algoritmo definido en el Anexo I cuando hay borrado de trama.
Esta Recomendación contiene un adjunto electrónico con programas y secuencias de prueba para la verificación de las aplicaciones de punto flotante y de punto fijo del algoritmo LD-CELP UIT-T G.728.
