The second issue of ITU Journal: ICT Discoveries, titled “Data for Good” features original research on the data dimensions of ICT-rich modern economies. Using information and insights drawn from the many ICT disciplines at work toward the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, editors and authors analyze automation, smart city data in public services, data compression in multimedia services, cloud computing systems, connected machinery, and data protection and security in ICT to demonstrate the broad applications of data in the industry. Topics explored include using data to fuel autonomous, human-centric ICTs, the data dimensions of blockchain technology, network traffic-pattern prediction, aviation safety, smart sustainable cities, environmental resilience, healthcare and artificial intelligence, and the growing importance of data relevance to business, governance, policy, law, and consumer protection.
