Economic contribution of broadband, digitization and ICT regulation: Econometric modelling for the Americas
In this issue
What has been the economic impact of broadband and digital transformation in the Americas? The Economic Contribution of Broadband, Digitization and ICT Regulation: Econometric Modelling for the Americas looks at three areas: fixed and mobile broadband, digitization, and policy and regulatory frameworks. For each country studied, the report explores the level of ICT development and asks two key questions: Which technologies should become a policy priority? How should regulators ensure that policies are deployed to stimulate the development of the digital? The report concludes that a 10 per cent increase in fixed broadband penetration would lead to a 1.9 per cent increase in GDP per capita, while a 10 per cent drop in broadband prices would result in a more than 3.0 per cent boost to broadband adoption.
