Changing Faces of Science and Tech
The photo exhibition Not a woman’s job? is organized by the Perception Change Project at the United Nations Office at Geneva with the participation of the European Organization for Nuclear Research and the International Telecommunication Union.
The Organizers have invited ITU stakeholders to submit photos featuring the achievements and stories of women (18+) who have challenged gender stereotypes and overcome barriers in the field of science and technology.
Celebrating women who dare to lead, innovate and forge new paths in science and tech:
Vasilia established the Drosophila intestine as an excellent model of tissue communication regulating adult stem cells, tissue regeneration and tumour growth (Tamamouna et al., Nature Cell Biology, 2021). As a Postdoc, she uses CRISPR screening to identify novel cancer‑specific genetic targets for advanced therapeutic products. She received the “Young Scientist” award of 2022 in Cyprus and the Marie Sklodowska‑Curie Fellowship in 2024.
