Changing Faces of Science and Tech
The photo exhibition Not a woman’s job? is organized by the Perception Change Project at the United Nations Office at Geneva with the participation of the European Organization for Nuclear Research and the International Telecommunication Union.
The Organizers have invited ITU stakeholders to submit photos featuring the achievements and stories of women (18+) who have challenged gender stereotypes and overcome barriers in the field of science and technology.
Celebrating women who dare to lead, innovate and forge new paths in science and tech:
Tu Youyou’s discovery of artemisinin found a solution to malaria, a disease long plagued humankind. Artemisinin‑based Combination Therapies (ACTs) remain the best malaria treatment recommended by WHO. The treatment saved millions of lives around the world, especially in developing countries. In 2015, Tu won the Nobel Prize for her pioneering discovery of artemisinin and a new treatment for malaria.
