New ITU standards for virtual measurement systems, video streaming and videotelephony (WEBINAR)

A webinar on Thursday will share the results of the 27 November to 6 December meeting of the ITU standardization expert group for ‘performance, QoS and QoE’, ITU-T Study Group 12.

Tune-in to learn more about new ITU standards nearing approval for virtual measurement systems, end-to-end QoS for videotelephony over 4G networks, and the impact of initial video-loading delay on users’ experience of video streaming.

Presentations introducing key revisions of ITU standards will address open-source speech coding software and the performance of mobile phones when acting as gateways to vehicle hands-free systems.

The webinar will be moderated by the Chairman of ITU-T Study Group 12, Kwame Baah-Acheamfuor, National Communications Authority of Ghana. The meeting’s results will be presented by the Chairmen of the group’s three Working Parties:

  • Lars Birger Nielsen, Brüel & Kjaer, Denmark: “Terminals and multimedia subjective assessment”
  • Vincent Barriac, Orange, France: “Objective models and tools for multimedia quality”
  • Paul Coverdale, Huawei Technologies, China: “Multimedia QoS and QoE”

New standards emerging from ITU-T Study Group 12 address the topics including the quality of video gaming, hands-free communications in vehicles, adaptive bitrate video streaming, and ICT services at major sporting and entertainment events.
