Webinar: ITU standards to assess the quality of video streaming, cloud gaming and fintech

A webinar on Thursday will share the results of the 26 November to 5 December 2019 meeting of the ITU standardization expert group for ‘performance, quality of service (QoS) and quality of experience (QoE)’, ITU-T Study Group 12.

The webinar will share insight into a new ITU standard outlining strategies for ICT regulators to establish regulatory frameworks capable of promoting high-quality ICT services in their home markets. The standard is a candidate for final approval at this meeting of ITU-T Study Group 12.

The webinar will also present a range of new ITU standards on course to achieve the first-stage approval (‘consent’) required to enter the close of their development cycle. Standards seeking consent at this meeting of ITU-T Study Group 12 address topics including:

  • Communication requirements and test methods for in-car communication.
  • Dimension-based subjective quality evaluation of video content.
  • Video quality assessment of streaming services over reliable transport for resolutions up to 4K.
  • Framework for the creation and performance testing of models based on Machine Learning, models to assess the impact of the transmission network on 4G speech quality.
  • Opinion model to predict QoE for cloud gaming services.
  • Methodology to test QoE of digital financial services.
  • QoE metrics for mobile telephony communication during train travel.

The webinar will be moderated by Kwame Baah-Acheamfuor, Ghana, Chairman of ITU-T Study Group 12. The meeting’s results will be presented by the Chairmen of the group’s three Working Parties:

  • Lars Birger Nielsen, Brüel & Kjær, Denmark: “Terminals and multimedia subjective assessment”
  • Vincent Barriac, Orange, France: “Objective models and tools for multimedia quality”
  • Paul Coverdale, Huawei Technologies, China: “Multimedia QoS and QoE”

Watch the video to see how an ITU standard developed by ITU-T Study Group 12 supports high-quality ICT services at major events.
