In this year’s Digital Skills Insights 2019 report, we examine the rapidly changing field of learning and skills development in the digital era. It features a range of articles from experts on how emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things, as well as advances in areas such as big data, smart cities and open-source learning, are changing how we create capacity and develop skills – now and in the future. This year’s report includes an overview of the discussion about digital literacy and new methods of teaching and creating capacity, as well as several case studies on how these new technologies are advancing skills in developing countries. The report aims to assist ITU members, as well as policy-makers and academics, in answering the question of how best to address future demand for digitally skilled citizens.
