Press conference on progress for ITU's World Radiocommunication Conference 2023

​​​​​​​​​​​​ITU will host a press conference on Thursday, 6 April in Geneva, Switzerland on the progress of discussions leading to the next World Radiocommunication Conference (WRC-23), to be held later this year. 

World radiocommunication conferences, held every three to four years, review and revise the ITU Radio Regulations, the international treaty governing the use of the radio-frequency spectrum, including satellite orbits. 

The hybrid press event will take place on the last day of the 2nd session of the Conference Preparatory Meeting (CPM23-2). 

At CPM23-2, delegates from ITU's 193 Member States are considering the results of studies conducted by ITU-R Study Groups on regulatory, technical, operational, and procedural matters which will be discussed at WRC-23.

MEDIA RSVP:    ​
    • All journalists, including UNOG credentialed reporters, must RSVP at pressreg@itu.int by Wednesday, 5 April at 15:00 CEST.
    • All journalists must have an ITU-issued media ID to access the press conference.
    • CPM23-2 media IDs will be issued only at ITU headquarters (Montbrillant building; Rue de Varembé 2). [location]
    • All journalists must go to ITU HQ first to receive media ID before accessing CICG. (See full media note below.) 

CPM23-2, the preparatory conference for WRC-23 taking place from 27 March to 6 April, is a closed event. Media participation is limited to the press conference. A media badge does not permit access to CPM23-2 meeting rooms. 

The World Radiocommunication Conference (WRC-23) will take place in Dubai, United Arab Emirates from 20 November to 15 December 2023. 

MEDIA NOTE:
    • ​Advance registration is required for all reporters, including those with UN credentials.
    • CPM23-2 media badges will be required for all reporters to access CICG premises, including those with UN credentials.
    • Reporters interested in participating with the press conference should send an email by Wednesday, 5 April at 15:00 CEST to pressreg@itu.int specifying the reporter's name, organization, and mode of participation (physical or online).
    • Media registrations are non-transferable. Media credentials will be issued only in the name of each registered reporter.
    • Pre-registered reporters attending physically can pick up their CPM23-2 media badges at the ITU Montbrillant building reception area on 6 April from 08:00 through 12:30 CEST. A valid photo ID in the name of the registered participant will be required.
    • Pre-Registered media attending remotely will receive a Zoom registration form a few days prior to the press briefing. A confirmation of registration email containing a personalized link to the virtual press conference will be sent upon the completion of the registration form.
    • Media access to CICG on 6 April 2023 is limited to the time and location of the press conference.
