26 September 2015, honours the important contribution made by leaders, on behalf of their country, towards
harnessing the potential of information and communication technologies (ICTs) for sustainable development. The award recognizes success stories and impressive progress made in ICT development over recent years in individual countries, as well as the over-arching importance of ICTs as an essential enabler for the achievement of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
The conferment of this special award is intended not only to honour individual Heads of State and Heads of Government, and the countries they represent, but also to inspire others to re-dedicate themselves to the vision of connecting the world, galvanizing innovation, and seeking technological solutions to meet both national and global aspirations for a sustainable and inclusive future – the Future We Want.
