​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Doreen Bogdan Martin - Director of the ITU Telecommunication Development Bureau​Doreen Bogdan-Martin was the Director of the ITU Telecommunication Development Bureau from 1 January 2019 to 31 december 2022, becoming the first woman in ITU history to hold one of the organization's top elected management positions.

On 29 September 2022, Ms Bogdan-Martin was elected as ITU’s first-ever female Secretary-General by Member States at the Union’s Plenipotentiary Conference in Bucharest, Romania. She took office on 1 January 2023.

GENIE.AI: Empowering countries to shape their AI future
Artificial intelligence (AI) is already one of the most transformative technologies of our time – but can it also transform the field of human social and economic development? 

If so, how can developing countries translate its potential into practical solutions? 

There are significant barriers to overcome before public institutions in many countries can even begin adopting AI. These include limited resources, technical capacity and infrastructure, as well as a lack of access to expertise.
