    Internet Governance Forum 2022

The 2022 Internet Governance Forum considered issues ranging from a resilient internet, universal connectivity, safety and security, data protection, emerging technology and avoiding internet fragmentation, amongst others.

At the opening ceremony, BDT Director Doreen Bogdan-Martin observed that the world finds itself at an inflection point. Recalling the international goodwill that was born at the Tunis Phase of the World Summit on Information Society - when the IGF was born - she said that 20 years later, ''The networks and services that we shaped, collectively, through that digital cooperation are now, in turn, reshaping our world. We have a duty to future generations to guide that evolution, and to ensure outcomes that are beneficial…''

Additionally, Ms Bogdan-Martin held several bilateral meetings and participated in a number of events at the IGF, including a High-Level Track session on Universal, Affordable & Meaningful Connectivity; a High-Level Track session on Digital Trust and Security; a WSIS Open Consultation; and an event featuring the results of ITU's Connect2Recover research competition.
