Twitter hosted a Partner2Connect Digital Coalition meeting in its offices in New York City on 18 September.

The session focused on the challenges and opportunities for digital transformation and digital inclusion, the role of digital cooperation, and the importance of open standards and open content to enable a free and secure digital world for all. It brought together members of government, the private sector and civil society, and featured the announcement of new Partner2Connect pledges.

BDT Director Doreen Bogdan-Martin reflected on the achievements made by the Digital Coalition in just one year since its launch, on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in 2021 – including having amassed over 450 pledges worth around $27 billion, from over 230 entities and more than 100 countries around the globe.

However, she affirmed that much work has yet to be done to bring connectivity to the 2.7 billion people that remain offline, and the millions more that lack meaningful access. Ms Bogdan-Martin expressed confidence in the growing Partner2Connect community, for their multistakeholder efforts to achieve universal connectivity and inclusive digital transformation.
