    PRIDA- Signing of HCM4A agreement

The "Policy and Regulation Initiative for Digital Africa" (PRIDA) is a joint initiative of the African Union (AU), the European Union (EU) and ITU.

On 7 September 2022, the ''Harmonized Calculation Method for Africa'' (HCM4A) agreement was signed, to strengthen cooperation among African countries on cross-border frequency coordination.

Taking part in the signing ceremony, BDT Director Doreen Bogdan-Martin noted that the HCM4A agreement ''marks another important step forward in delivering on the vision enshrined in the African Union’s Digital Transformation Strategy – that of an ‘integrated and inclusive digital society and economy that improves the quality of life of Africa’s citizens’’’.

She underscored that effective and harmonized spectrum management across the vast continent is critical to bridge the digital divide, and bring broadband access to all Africans.
