    USTTI-CTU Training Programme

The United States Telecommunication Training Institute (USTTI) and the Caribbean Telecommunication Union (CTU) jointly hosted a training program in Miami, Florida, USA from 25-27 April.

At the opening of the programme, BDT Director Doreen Bogdan-Martin spoke on the importance of regulatory frameworks to support digital cooperation.

She noted that the pandemic has offered the international community a unique chance to effect a major global reset, and to reframe government policy agendas through a digital lens. Ms Bogdan-Martin also remarked that the Americas and the Caribbean region has been working hard to proactively address challenges, including the digital divide, digital skills, digital transformation through a whole-of-society approach, and building digital resilience.

Explaining that strong digital sector will serve as a key driver of new opportunities in every other sector, Ms Bogdan-Martin described the need to further harness the energy, expertise and talent within ITU, USTTI, CTU, and CITEL, as well as national teams, partners from the private sector, and grassroots organizations from civil society, to drive inclusive digital development.
