Women in Cyber Mentorship programme: 2nd Edition Launch

ITU together with FIRST and the EQUALS Global Partnership launched the second edition of the Women in Cyber Mentorship programme. Following the success of an exciting pilot edition in 2021 in Africa and the Arab States region, the programme has been expanded to support the next generation of women in Asia and the Pacific.

In her opening remarks, the BDT Director emphasized the importance of more women in the cybersecurity sector– not only to fill the gap in shortage of cybersecurity professionals globally, but also because women's perspectives are critical to design solutions that create a safer world for all people.

Previous mentees have shared that the mentorship programme helped them speak up and stand their ground, be bold, and take more initiative in the workplace. With mentees willing to return as mentors, Ms Bogdan-Martin noted that indeed the goal is to create a virtuous cycle of women helping women, so that women become equal contributors to the field of cybersecurity.

She invited participants to the join Girls in ICT Day celebrations on 28 April 2022, which this year will take theme of ''access and safety''.
