Accessible Americas, ICT's for All took place between 29 November to 1 December 2021, in Varadero, Cuba. The event focused on ICT Accessibility to ensure digital inclusion and empowerment of all people, regardless of their age, gender, ability or location in the region.
In her opening address, BDT Director Doreen Bogdan-Martin emphasized that ''it is more important than ever that the opportunities offered by a digital connection are equally, and equitably, accessible by all,'' especially given the sweeping tide of digital transformation across the world.
She also noted that digital technologies offer tremendous scope for opening up exciting new opportunities and possibilities for marginalized people and communities.
''Building fully inclusive digital societies will take commitment, cooperation, and close collaboration between all stakeholders… Let's work together, to ensure that everyone gets their chance to be a full participant in the digital future,'' urged Ms Bogdan-Martin.
