Telecommunication Development Advisory Group (TDAG) 2021

The 29th meeting of the Telecommunication Development Advisory Group (TDAG) was held online from 8-12 November 2021.

In her opening address, BDT Director Doreen Bogdan-Marin stressed the importance of this last TDAG meeting before the World Telecommunication Development Conference (WTDC) in June 2021. She said, ''For the first time in decades, we have a strong global consensus around the role that digital solutions could, and should, play in sustainable development. We have an incredible opportunity to leverage this consensus at our next WTDC, and use it to rewrite the global development paradigm to ensure universal, affordable, safe connectivity for all.''

During the week, special sessions were held on ITU's recently launched Partner2Connect Digital Coalition, the Generation Connect initiative to involve young people in the global digital development agenda, and gender initiatives including the Network of Women for WTDC.

Ms Bogdan-Martin remarked, ''Together, and only together, can we ensure that we make WTDC the game-changing moment for connectivity and a landmark event for digital development.''

She thanked ITU-D members for their continued collaborative spirit, and assured them that BDT staff are working to represent and ''Be that Digital Transformation'' they need.
