The first Network of Women for WTDC Fireside Discussion, “What you need to know about ITU: An introduction to ITU-D", was powered by the Network of Women for WTDC in the Europe region. The session sought to share information on structures and associated statutory processes of the ITU Development Sector.
In her opening remarks, BDT Director Doreen Bogdan-Martin observed that not only is there a clear lack of women in ITU, but in the digital development sector as a whole. The gender digital divide continues to be a persistent problem across the world, with women accessing the internet much less than men, and a significant lack of women's leadership in technology.
''That's why we need you – women who are at intersection of technology and policy that transforms lives – at the helm in leading change,'' said Ms Bogdan-Martin.
She announced that the Advisory Board for the Network of Women for WTDC will soon be unveiled, with representation from all regions.
