BDT Director's Corner: Activities

​Ambassadors of the Political and Security Council of the European Union visited the International Telecommunication Union on 1 October 2021.  

While providing an overview of the work of ITU's Telecommunication Development Bureau, BDT Director Doreen Bogdan-Martin expressed appreciation for strengthened cooperation with European countries, who she noted are leaders in the digital sphere.  

She praised Europe's commitment to support for digital development efforts, including close collaboration with ITU on many fronts to connect the unconnected. This includes the PRIDA policy and regulatory initiative, a joint initiative between the European Commission, the African Union, and ITU; the GovStack initiative with Estonia, Germany and the Digital Impact Alliance to promote scalable e-government solutions in developing countries; and work with NORAD on Digital Transformation Centres in Ghana, among others.
