BDT Director Doreen Bogdan-Martin delivered opening remarks at the EQUALS Annual Partners Plenary Meeting. Five years ago, ITU along with UN Women, ITC, UN University, and GSMA co-founded the EQUALS Global Partnership to bridge the digital divide.
Underscoring the importance of accelerating women and girls' digital inclusion all over the world, Ms Bogdan-Martin remarked “EQUALS partners demonstrate every day that finding common ground, agreeing on goals, and leveraging diverse strengths is the best way to tackle complex, global issues." EQUALS coalitions – on Access, Skills, Leadership and Research – are finding innovative ways to deliver solutions.
Ms. Bogdan Martin emphasized the need for new and better digital skills training for girls and women, which enable them to pursue leadership opportunities in the tech sector and in entrepreneurship.
