​At the ''SDG Moment 2021'' convened by the UN Secretary-General, BDT Director Doreen Bogdan-Martin participated in a dialogue on ''Connectivity: Narrowing the digital divide.''

She emphasized that ''connectivity is the thread that ties all the SDGs together''. While connectivity was previously seen as a ''nice to have'', the COVID crisis has revealed it's crucial role in social and economic development.

Innovative partnerships will be necessary to bridge the gap. Ms Bogdan-Martin explained how ITU and UNICEF's Giga initiative to connect every school to the internet is a good example of this, and encouraged similarly focused, targeted projects constructed through partnerships to connect the unconnected.
