    Bilateral with the Federal Republic of Somalia

    ​BDT Director Doreen Bogdan-Martin met with H.E. Ahmed Abdi Sheik, Minister of Communications and Technology, Federal Republic of Somalia on 14 April 2021. The Minister was accompanied by officials from the Federal Republic of Somalia's Ministry of Communications & Technology, including Mr Abdiaziz Duwane Isak, Director General; Mr Abdirahman Osman Farah, Senior Policy Advisor; Mr Ahmed Ali Ugas, Coordinator; and Mr Zakarie Ismael, Head of E-Government Implementation. The BDT Director was joined by Mr Adel Darwish, Regional Director and Eng. Mustafa Almahdi, Programme Officer, from the ITU Office for Arab States. They discussed the progress in the digital space in Somalia's ICT sector, and the necessity of digital skills, accessible networks, affordable services, and good policy frameworks to achieve meaningful connectivity in the country. ​
