The UNconnected, a new ITU-Development podcast series, aims to raise awareness on the importance of connectivity and bridging the digital divide ahead of ITU's World Telecommunication Development Conference in November 2021.
Listeners join BDT Director Doreen Bogdan-Martin as she engages in one-to-one conversations with key stakeholders and partners to discuss connectivity for development, and gain insights on how ICTs help advance the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals & the ITU Connect 2030 Agenda.
In the very first episode of The UNconnected, Ms Bogdan-Martin conversed with Princess Dr Nisreen El-Hashemite, Founder President of Women in Science International League and the Executive Director of the Royal Academy of Science International Trust. On the occasion of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, they explored the importance of connecting girls, and how science can help girls contribute to the economic and social development of society.
Given Princess Dr Nisreen El-Hashemite's inspiring role as a 'science activist' who has extensively promoted women in science, health and development, Ms Bogdan-Martin asked her to share insights and stories from her personal journey, to show girls that the world is looking forward to the innovative contributions they can make.
