    5G and Future Networks

At ITU Telecom World 2019, I spoke of the importance of getting the regulatory environment right to facilitate the roll out of 5G technology and its uptake by consumers. The advent of 5G is critically important, not just to the development of the ICT sector, but to global development overall. The performance enhancements offered by this next-generation technology have the potential to enable a whole raft of new services that can play a catalytic, transformative role in accelerating progress towards the 17 SDG. For this to be realized, I emphasized the need to find creative ways for all stakeholders to collaborate. Governments, manufacturers, operators, service providers and consumers – everyone has a huge stake in making this work, because the benefits are going to be exponential.
