Sudan hosts Regional Development Forum for the Arab States

The ITU Regional Development Forum (RDF) for the Arab States was held in Khartoum, Sudan on 29 January 2017.

The Forum was organized by ITU in collaboration with the National Telecommunication Corporation under the theme "ICT for Sustainable Development".

During the RDF, participants shared their experiences and insights on the role that ICTs play in achieving the SDGs, with a focus on infrastructure development, health, education and, employment and economic growth.

"The RDF is a perfect platform for all of us to engage in interactive discussions and share our experiences and insights on the role that ICTs play in achieving the SDGs, said Mr Brahima Sanou.  "Policy makes, regulators, private sector, development partners and all stakeholders of the ICT ecosystem need more than ever to establish an inclusive multistakeholder and collaborative dialogue to achieve social economic development."

The RDF was followed by the WTDC-17 Regional Preparatory Meeting for the Arab States from 30 January – 1 February.
