This workshop on Telecommunications/ICTs resilience for disaster management utilizing emerging telecommunication/ICT including AI and IoT will take place at ITU Headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland on Thursday, 1 October 2026, from 14:30 - 17:30 in conjunction with the ITU-D Study Group 1 Question 3/1 meeting dedicated to “The use of telecommunications/ICTs for disaster risk reduction and management”.
Background information
Disasters can have negative impact on societies, disrupting the normal functioning of social and economic life. Emerging telecommunications/ICTs technologies and services including AI can contribute disaster resilience and management, preparedness and response, which mitigate or reduce the potential negative consequences of risk results in disasters. The main objective of this workshop is to share experiences and knowledge on emerging telecommunication/ICT including AI and IoT for disaster resilience and management, preparedness and response with ITU-D members. The discussion result must be helpful for producing the report of Question 3/1.
