Green-Digital-Partnership-Initiatives

At ITU, we're committed to driving the twin green and digital transitions through strategic partnerships and collaborative initiatives. Explore some of our engagements and learn how they contribute to a greener digital future or climate change adaption:

Digital Public Goods Alliance and Climate Change Adaption

The Digital Public Goods Alliance (DPGA), International Telecommunication Union (ITU), and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) spearheaded a call for weather, climate and hydrological datasets to be made open and freely accessible as digital public goods. This initiative, driven by the DPGA's Climate Change Adaptation Community of Practice, focused on the potential of DPGs to enhance climate and weather services. Learn more about DPGs for Climate Change Adaption from the WSIS Forum 2022 ALFM C7: E-Environment event and a 2022 report which puts forward steps to help improve data access.

Coalition for Digital Environmental Sustainability (CODES)

As a co-champion of CODES, an international multi-stakeholder alliance formed in response to the UN Secretary General's Roadmap for Digital Cooperation, ITU plays a pivotal role in advancing digital environmental sustainability. Together with partners, ITU contributed to the Action Plan for a Sustainable Planet in the Digital Age, fostering collaborative efforts towards environmental preservation.

UN4NAPS

ITU participates in UN4NAPs, a UN-wide partnership initiative aimed at providing technical support to Least Developed Countries and Small Island Developing States in formulating and implementing National Adaptation Plans (NAPs). This partnership is driving tangible action to address climate challenges and build resilience in vulnerable communities.

LKDF Forum 2021 – Digital Skills for an Inclusive Future

In collaboration with the International Training Centre of the ILO (ITCILO), ITU hosted a session at the 2021 LKDF Forum, focusing on Digital Skills for an Inclusive Future. This session explored the crucial role of digital skills in shaping a more inclusive society and economy. Dive deeper into the discussions through the Sessions' Background Papers and the Outcome Book.
