ITU TELECOM AMERICAS is a unique event which brings together the top names in the Americas region, as well as leading global names, from both government and industry, to explore the dynamic set of opportunities which the Americas ICT sector offers for growth and investment.

PREVIOUS AMERICAS EVENTS

Our most recent event to be held in and for the AMERICAS region was ITU TELECOM AMERICAS 2005, which took place in Salvador da Bahia, Brazil. The event encompassed an Exhibition, meeting facilities and an extensive Forum program featuring products and speakers from leading global brands such as Cisco, HP, Huawei, Intelsat, NEC, Nokia, Qualcomm, Telefónica and ZTE, along with pavilions from France, Spain, US and Venezuela and Brazilian operators such as Vivo, Oi and Telemar. A number of smaller international companies also participated such as Cboss, Convergys, Hispasat, Tekelek and Telcordia, amongst others.

The Forum at AMERICAS 2005 delved into topics ranging from Next Generation Networks (NGN), Internet governance and cyber security to broadband connectivity and the transition to a new Information Society, with speakers drawn from both the industry as well as governments. Speakers included Mr Roberto Lima, president, VIVO, Mr Jeff Jacobs, President Global Development, QUALCOMM, His Excellency Mr Hélio Costa, Ministro, Ministério das Comunicações, Brazil and Mr Edwin San Roman, President of REGULATEL.
