Important Logistical Instructions for WTSA-24 Opening Ceremony

Dear Esteemed Delegates,

We hope this message finds you well. As we approach the opening ceremony of WTSA-24, we are excited to remind you that this year’s event will be inaugurated by His Excellency, the Honourable Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, on Tuesday 15 October 2024.

This is a historic occasion, marking the first time WTSA is being hosted in Asia—an opportunity not to be missed!

Due to heightened security, there have been changes to some of the timings communicated previously. Please note the following important information and logistical requirements.

Changes to timing on Tuesday 15 October have been outlined in RED:

1. Badge Collection – Strongly Encouraged by Monday 14 October

Badge collection will be open at Bharat Mandapam Saturday 12 October 09:00-17:00, Sunday 13 October 09:00-17:00 and on Monday, 14 October, from 07:30-23:00. We strongly encourage you to pick up your badges on Monday to avoid any delays or complications on the morning of the opening ceremony.

Badging is closed on Tuesday Morning 15 October and only reopens from 13:30-18:00 on Tuesday afternoon.

2. Strict Security Measures on Tuesday 15 October – Prime Minister’s Visit

Due to heightened security measures for the Prime Minister’s arrival, please note the following:

  • No entry to the venue (Campus Pragati Maidan) will be permitted after 08:30 on October 15th. All roads and access to Pragati Maidan will be closed after this time.
  • Only badge holders will be allowed access between 7:30 and 8:30 on 15 October.
  • If you are unable to arrive before 8:30, access to the venue will only be allowed after 13:30, once the opening ceremony has concluded

3. Seating and Assembly Hall Requirements

  • Once inside the campus, all delegates must be seated in the Plenary Assembly Hall at Bharat Mandapam by 9:00.
  • Doors to the assembly hall will be locked from 9:00 until 11:00, during which time movement will be restricted until the Prime Minister’s arrival for the opening ceremony.
  • Please note that no personal belongings (such as bags, briefcases, lighters, power banks, water bottles, cameras, laptops, electronic remote car keys, and other electronic equipment) will be allowed inside the Plenary Assembly Hall during the opening ceremony. A limited number of lockers will be available, so we recommend leaving any personal items at your hotel on this day.  Note that mobile phones are allowed.

We are truly honoured to have Prime Minister Modi inaugurate this prestigious event, marking a significant milestone for WTSA and ITU in the region. We kindly ask for your full cooperation in following these logistical guidelines, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable experience for everyone.
