Media Registration Procedure​

In order to submit a media accreditation request, you will need to login using an ITU User Account (or create one):

  • If you have an ITU User Account, please continue to the section “How to register" below.
  • If you don't have an ITU User Account linked to your email address, please select “Click here to create a new user account" and follow the steps below on “How to create an ITU User Account".
  • If you do not remember if you have an ITU User Account or if you forgot the password, please follow instructions on the login page. 

HOW TO CREATE AN ITU USER ACCOUNT: 

1. Access the login page to create a new ITU User Account

2. Click on “Click here to create a new user account" and then click on the box “ITU User Account"

3. Once you are on the “ITU User Account Login" webpage, click on “No ITU Account yet? Click here to create one" at the bottom of the page.

4. You will then access the “ITU User account creation" webpage. Fill in the “Contact Data" form with your personal information, email address and password. (NOTE: Please be sure to select “journalist" under Professional Role.)

5. Fill in the “Organization Data".

  • For the Membership Type, please click on “Media".
  • Select the country where your media outlet is based.
  • In the “Organization" field, type the full name of your media outlet.
    • If it appears in the list, select it.
    • If you get a message indicating that “No data exists", please try any alternate versions of your organization's name (ex: “National News Network" also “NNN")
    • If you still get the message “No data exists", you will need to create its profile within our system. Click on “Organization not found? Click here to enter your organization data" and fill in the form. For the Organization Type, please select "Media/ Press".

6. Click on “Sign up".

7. You will receive a confirmation email with a code. Copy it and paste it into the “Verify email" webpage. If you did not get a code by email, please click on “Click here".

8. Your account should now be created. Please make sure you remember your email/username and password as you will need them to register (see process below) . If you want to update your personal data, please contact pressreg@itu.int. 

​HOW TO REGISTER AND GET ACCREDITED FOR AN ITU EVENT: 

1. Register for the event​ using your ITU User Account

a) Access the registration form of the event (link is usually provided in the media advisory) on the ITU Media Centre.

b) Connect with your ITU User Account and complete the form with your media outlet's information.

c) Select the sub-meetings you want to attend and add your function for each of them. Please note that fields with a red asterisk are required.

d) Click the "Submit Registration" button. You will receive an email confirming your registration request. 

2. Send us your media credentials

a) Based on the requirements set by ITU's Media Accreditation Guidelines​, you need to send your media credentials to pressreg@itu.int. Please note that ITU reserves the right to ask you for additional documentation demonstrating that you are a bona fide member of the media.

b) Once your credentials have been reviewed and validated, your event registration and accreditation will be approved. You will receive an email confirming your ITU media accreditation status.

c) If ITU declines your request, you will also be notified by email. Please note that other registration options are typically available for non-media applicants. Decisions made on media accreditation by the ITU Press Service are final. 

3. Pick up your badge at the registration booth at the ITU event.

Media badges must be collected at the event to access the premises. You will be required to present a copy of your confirmation email along with an official photo ID (license, passport, national ID, etc.) to collect your badge.

LEGAL NOTICE: Applications for media registration and/or accreditation are considered on a case-by-case basis and are reserved only for media professionals representing a bona fide media organization. The final decision on all applications rests with ITU, which reserves the right to deny or withdraw registration or accreditation of individuals whose actions or omissions run counter to the principles of the ITU Constitution and Convention, the Charter of the United Nations or established journalism ethics and standards. In this context, ITU may deny or revoke accreditation at any time, i.a., if it reasonably considers that (i) such accreditation is put to improper use or is being used to abuse the privileges so extended; (ii) the accredited individual does not respect the access and security policies in effect; or (iii) the conduct of the accredited individual does not respect the dignity, privacy or integrity of event participants or ITU officials. The media badge is strictly personal and ITU will confiscate any badge in the possession of any individual to whom it was not issued. Information provided to you by ITU on media accreditation processes for ITU events should not be communicated to third parties without ITU's prior consent. By submitting your request for registration and/or accreditation, you acknowledge and accept these conditions, and you agree to be included in ITU's media mailing list and receive press releases, media advisories and other media-related communications on behalf of ITU via email.
