Mr Orvar Hurtig was appointed Vice President for Ericsson’s Industry and Society business when the unit was formed in April 2014.
The Industry and Society organization addresses the Utilities, Transportation and Public Safety sectors and leads engagements with Smart Sustainable Cities, applying Ericsson’s full breadth of technologies, products and services to support industries as they apply communications technology to transform their operations and customer offerings.
Orvar’s global team brings together a customer base developed over the last 9 years in multiple countries and 14 solutions customized to address specific sector needs, including the multiple award winning Connected Vehicle Cloud.
Orvar comes to this role with 19 years’ experience across the Ericsson group, joining in 1996 to grow the Ericsson Hewlett Packard IT Services business in North America. Since then, he has undertaken a series of leadership roles in US, Ireland and Sweden, including responsibility to transform global operations, processes and tools, encompassing a workforce of 40,000, and with full accountability for complex multinational telecoms operator deployments and operations.
Prior to joining Ericsson, Orvar spent 10 years in leadership roles in the Swedish Military, where he completed his engineering studies.
