Dr Hamadoun Touré, ITU Secretary-General

The 2013 UN Climate Change Conference (COP19/CMP9) will take place in Warsaw (Poland) from 11 to 22 November 2013. The conference will discuss progress in the implementation of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), with the ultimate goal of addressing the causes and consequences of climate change. Follow ITU participation at this conference and get involved in our activities to move the climate change agenda forward through the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs).

ACTING ON CLIMATE CHANGE

Information and communication technologies (ICTs), such as satellites, mobile phones or the Internet, play a key role in addressing major challenges related to climate change and sustainable development. ICTs are fundamental to monitoring the climate and helping countries to mitigate and adapt to the effects of climate change. By raising awareness of the role of ICTs, ITU is assisting society with

the transition towards a green economy by promoting innovative solutions that can ensure a sustainable future.
