Terms of Reference

​​​​Objectives

The ITU-T Study Group 5 Regional Group for Latin America (SG5RG-LATAM) encourages the participation and contribution of Latin American countries[1] to the activities of ITU-T Study Group 5 on environment, climate action, circular economy and electromagnetic fields.

This regional group is created in accordance with WTSA Resolution 44 and Resolution 54 (Rev. New Delhi, 2024). SG5RG-LATAM will also support the implementation of Resolution 72 on “Measurement and assessment concerns related to human exposure to electromagnetic fields” (Rev. New Delhi, 2024), Resolution 73 on “Information and communication technologies, environment, climate change and circular economy” (Rev. New Delhi, 2024) and Resolution 79 on “Role of telecommunications/information and communication technologies in handling and controlling e-waste from telecommunication and information technology equipment and methods of treating it” (Rev. New Delhi, 2024); and will help Study Group 5 to assume its additional responsibilities following WTSA-24 (New Delhi, 2024).​
