Workshop on Harmonization of Web and IPTV Technologies

Introduction
The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) is organizing a Workshop on Harmonization of Web and IPTV Technologies in the Sofitel Copacabana Hotel, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, 19 and 21 July 2011, 1600-1830 hours. The workshop is one of the various activities held during the IPTV-GSI event in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, 18-22 July 2011.
Objectives
The objectives of this Workshop are to discuss how IPTV and Web technologies can be integrated in such a way that both user expectations and industry needs can be addressed. Topics to be explored include:
  • Harmonization of multimedia content formats, such as W3C recommendations SVG and HTML5, and ITU-T interactive multimedia frameworks like Ginga-NCL (H.761) and LIME (H.762)
  • IPTV service interoperability between IPTV services using managed IP networks and Internet, in scenarios that include multiple-sourced multimedia content as well as multiple exhibition devices.
Audience
This event is targeted at organizations and individuals interested in the standardization and harmonization between existing ITU-T IPTV standards, W3C standards and web technologies, including standards developers, manufacturers, developers and regulators.
