A Global Standards Initiative (GSI) was a package of work conducted through co-located meetings of the involved Study Groups and Rapporteur Groups under the umbrella of a coordinated work plan in order to expedite the work in response to market need and to achieve a visible focus for the work. The GSI mechanism was discontinued after 2016.
