Title of presentation: Future Cities: the role of IoT and Semantic Technology

This talk will look at the role of interoperability in maximising the value of IoT data, observing that timely and uniform access to data will be crucial to deliver IoT services and applications. Using the CityVerve smart city IoT project (cityverve.org.uk) as an example, we discuss the requirement for an open data ecosystem and present the Hypercat specification for providing machine-processable data catalogues as a key contributor to interoperability at the data level.
