KASHINO Makio

Makio Kashino is a Senior Distinguished Scientist and Executive Manager of Information Science Laboratory, NTT Communication Science Laboratories, NTT Corporation, and a Visiting Professor of Department of Information Processing, Interdisciplinary Graduate School of Science and Engineering, Tokyo Institute of Technology. He received Ph.D. in experimental psychology from the University of Tokyo in 2000.

He has been studying neural mechanisms of auditory perception, combining various approaches including psychophysics, neuroimaging, electrophysiology, and computational modeling.

Since 2009, he has been leading a project (CREST) funded by Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST), on the development of communication systems based on the decoding and controlling of implicit interpersonal information.
