Durban, South Africa, 8-11 July 2013
At the kind invitation of the Department of Communication of South Africa [DOC], the International Telecommunication Union [ITU] organized a one-day workshop on "Countering and Combating Spam" on 8 July 2013 and a one-day workshop on "Environmental Sound Management of E-Waste" on 9th July 2013. These events were aimed at disseminating information on spam and spam countermeasures and at providing an overview of the best practices on policies, regulations and international standards for improving e-waste management.
In addition, ITU organized an ATU-ITU Seminar to brief on the outcomes of WTSA-12 and WCIT-12
The events brought together leading specialists in the field, from top policy-makers to engineers, designers, planners, government officials, media, regulators, standards experts and academia representatives.
